Dr. Ben Bevans grew up on a poultry farm in Nebraska that constantly needed equipment repaired. Fixing things is what encouraged him to get his Bachelor's degree in Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He later received his Ph.D. at Virginia Tech specializing in process sensing and control of metal 3D printing. His decade's worth of experience with advanced manufacturing has been utilized by DoD partners to improve quality control and manufacturing uptime. He seeks to take this knowledge of the process to democratize metal additive manufacturing to other industries outside of the defense sector.
